I've been working on some guides to put on the website - and I'm looking for suggestions on what you'd like to see. Currently I have only a couple defined, one which details how to use GParted to help install a second operating system like OpenSolaris, and the other tells you how to activate and edit your own personal web space on the University of Iowa's servers.

Leave a comment here if you have suggestions.

I've decided to start looking at another awesome open source project, developed by Sun. I could be up all night, trying to remember exactly what to do with all these .jar files, considering I haven't used Java for at least a year or so.

After waiting a few days for their servers to recover from the initial download-shock, now is a great time to download the latest version of OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice.org, which has the .org because the name OpenOffice is already trademarked, is a suite of free, open-source office tools, complete with a featureset as rich and powerful as Microsoft Office (at a savings of roughly $200).

Let me gloss over a few of the newest additions into the program, bringing into from 2.4 to 3.0.

There was an interesting article in the Daily Iowan today. It offers a view on file-sharing at the University of Iowa, with what seems to be a pro-industry bias (hopefully not on purpose).
